What We Do : Our Ministries
At IHC we are focused on reaching out to the community in our urban setting and around the world to create community, train and equip in various areas, disciple, and to make church planting a more effective effort. As we reach out to people in our urban environment, we want to partner with those across the country that are hoping to do the same things in their neighborhoods, villages, towns, and cities. Here’s a quick look at some of the amazing things that we are doing, with more in store ahead!
English as a second language class
Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Optional: Wednesday Bible Study
Time: 9:30, 11:00
Location: IHC Classroom
Description:
Ms. Sarah has been teaching ESL classes for 3 years at IHC. She uses an in-person small group technique of learning English by engaging with women in the community. In order to be culturally sensitive, this is an all women’s class. They learn practical phrases that can help them speak in day-to-day situations. Students are encouraged to only use their limited English in the classroom and to practice everyday at the grocery market, meeting new people, and everywhere else.
k-12 Student tutoring
Day: Thursdays
Time: 4:00 PM
Location: IHC Classroom
IHC is open to all grade school children for homework help and tutoring. As part of our vision to serve the community, volunteers help students discuss their homework with native English speakers to get a better grasp of their studies. Some children need help with their math homework, while others need help with their English projects. Whatever the subject may be, IHC reaches out to the communities young Einsteins to help further their education.
